Learning shapes-1

Children spent the  whole week learning different shapes. U KG  are familiar making shapes from Tangram puzzle pieces. They colored  A 4 sized newspaper in different colors and  pin poked the Tangram  puzzle shapes I drew for them on the construction paper. It took longer then the usual time.

L KG learnt to make figures from the plastic shapes. I pasted the figure chart on cardboard and covered with wide cello tape.

Only few Nursery children remembered  the name of the shapes from the demonstration tray so  we dealt with just one shape-Circle. I drew circles for pin poking. They poked only one circle. Children used normal sized pin but I am looking for a little bigger size. For the mat I used pieces of flooring material.

The next day  I read  story of Caterpillar from ECEC and children  choose circles to  make  caterpillars. Only one child choose green circles. They wanted to make butterflies too. But I had something else ready for them- Lady bugs. Butterflies will be for some other day.

Children love the  book called Tik Tike Kira- a Lady Bug book from Room to Read . I feel  Nursery enjoyed making Lady bugs because they kept saying Tik Tike Kira ..Tik Tike Kira .. Tikai Tika.

I think the best part for Nursery was eating only round shaped biscuits. Perhaps they wanted to eat the other biscuits too but we kept those for snack time. The treat was only for the Nursery.
